17-Year-Old Florida Teen Responsible for Recent Celebrity Twitter Hack

The mastermind hacker behind the Twitter celebrity breach on July 15 has just been revealed. 17-year-old Graham Ivan Clark of Tampa, Florida along with a 22-year-old from Orlando and a 19-year-old from the U.K. were behind the phone spear-phishing attack that led to 130 high-profile accounts being hacked.

Once the perpetrators gained access to the Twitter accounts of prominent figures like Barack Obama, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Kanye West, to name a few, they went on to tweet that they would double the amount of BTC received by anyone who sent BTC to their private wallet.

While the hack only resulted in $117,000 USD worth of stolen BTC, Graham Ivan Clark is facing up to 17 counts of communications fraud, 10 counts of fraudulent use of personal information, and will be charged as an adult. After further investigation, it was also discovered that Clark was in the possession of over $3 million USD in Bitcoin. Due to the potentially-sensitive information Clark may have stumbled on to after gaining access to the accounts of politicians, leaders, and influential people, his bail has been set to $725,000 USD.
