With focal points on cutting edge technology and whatever hot releases loom around the corner, the very nature of electronic music leans on modern practice, but just because today’s industry often revolves around the current flavor of the week doesn’t mean there isn’t an entire lineage of dance music that’s worth exploring. Enter Electronic, an exhibition centered on the global history and multi-sensory experience of electronic music that’s set to touch down at London’s Design Museum in the spring of 2020.

Music is only part of the story. Evoking the experience of a being in a club, the exhibition will transport you through the people, art, design, technology and photography that have been capturing and shaping the electronic music landscape.

Electronic is expected to juxtapose the diverse sampling of club culture from around the world, with dancefloors recreated to emulate the classic club scenes from Berlin, Paris, Detroit, Chicago, and the UK over the years. The exhibition, which was originally presented at the Philharmonie de Paris this year, complements the sights, sounds, and smells of the aforementioned clubbing hotspots with work from icons like Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, and Kraftwerk, the latter of which will have their sounds brought to life in a 3D experience from designer Peter Saville.

Electronic is scheduled to run from April 1 to July 26 of next year, with early bird tickets available now through the Design Museum itself. Learn more here.
