Japan's BEAMS just joined with PORTER for elevated bags, and now the famed retailer is linking with Dr. Martens for a trio of exclusive derby shoes. Like Yohji Yamamoto's recent monk-strapped collaboration, these Dr. Martens retain the familiar shape that makes them a fashion favorite, with slight upgrades to add some understated flair.
The first two shoes boast much of what fans come to expect from Dr. Martens: a chunky, yellow-welted rubber outsole beneath a round-toe smooth leather upper. Black eyelets and laces, plus Dr. Martens' familiar Air Wair heel tag appear on both white and black iterations, with the main distinction coming by way of small zippers located on the external vamp of each shoe, allowing for easier access. The final variant swaps out the smooth upper for black patent leather, yielding a slick, dressy aesthetic. To further class up the shoe, the yellow outsole stitching is rendered in black.
All of the special Dr. Martens are scheduled to hit BEAMS' site by mid-February for ¥25,920 JPY, approximately $235 USD.
Most recently, BEAMS' fashion-forward BEAMS PLUS imprint showcased preppy looks in its Spring/Summer 2019 lookbook.
