The freestyle – originally recorded on the British rap channel Link Up TV on June 27, just two days before Scorpion shattered streaming records – seems to stir up some significant controversy.
On the heels of the Pusha-T back-and-forth — which went Pusha’s “Infrared,” then Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle,” then ended with Pusha’s deeply personal “The Story of Adidion” — Drake seems to make nods to the beef.
“I know so much shit that I cannot expose,” the rapper sings. “I keep it inside and I laugh on my own.”
Continuing, more personally, and most likely directing his bars at Kanye West (who produced Pusha’s album) and the artist’s involvement with his YEEZY fashion line, “They wanna link when they got no chunes / They too worried about selling out shoes / I don’t give a fuck about jeans or crap / Or going to Milan, or going to the Met / I just wanna make these songs for the set.”
Drake’s Scorpion has officially already broken 1 billion streams since its release, making the Toronto rapper the first artist to ever cross the threshold in one week.
