While Marshmello has moved on to land features with a number of high profile artists spanning genres, like Logic on “Everyday” and Selena Gomez on “Wolves,” the second single off of Joytime II reasserts the whimsical personality that Marshmello fans came to know and love when the masked producer’s musical career was just beginning to gain momentum.
Familiar in its use of a looping vocal cut that precedes the song’s drop points and the rounded, metallic synth work that characterized earlier Marshmello sound, “Check This Out” is a welcome return to the sonic constructions of Marshmello’s electronic beginning.
