As the fall-out over the Cambridge Analytica scandal continues to grow, Instagram has announced that it will soon allow users to download a copy of all the data they have shared with the platform. The new data portability tool will be similar to Facebook's "download your information" tool, and will help Facebook -- which owns Instagram -- comply with upcoming European legislation.
Confirming the news of the new data portability tool, Instagram told The Verge that it would allow users to "download a copy of what you've shared on Instagram, including your photos, videos and messages." Since news broke about Cambridge Analytica last month, there has been increased scrutiny on the data held by Facebook, ultimately culminating in the questions asked at Mark Zuckerberg's recent testimony in Washington.
In other news, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has left Facebook over the scandal.
