New R-Rated Animated Batman Film is Set in the 1800s

Warner Bros. has just released a full-length trailer for DC Universe's Batman: Gotham by Gaslamp. The film places the caped crusader in the mid-1800s, to defend Gotham from a murderous villain resembling Jack the Ripper, based on a Elseworlds storyline from 1989.

DC has released outstanding full-length animated films in recent years, solidifying a cohesive universe for the animated Justice League, the Dark Justice League, and even the Teen Titans. While they continue to bring new DC story arcs to life, they still manage to release standalone films; including a Bruce Timm-era Batman and Harley Quinn film full of R-rated sex jokes, and a 1960s camp-inspired Batman featuring the late Adam West.
